On Saturday 30th June 2018 at the Cowes Town Square were holding a classic car & motorcycle show, variety market, raffle, hot food vans followed by an auction of donated goods and rock n roll night at the Westernport Hotel in San Remo.
The Winter Sunshine Festival is an event held down here at Phillip Island once a year (this is our 3rd), and each year we focus on raising money for a particular cause. This year its all about Whiskeys Wish Inc.
Whiskeys Wish is a NFP organisation that has a very personal mission to raise money to provide training and puppies to our veterans, first responders and correctional officers who have suffered from PTSD and service related injuries.
The founders Scott & Liz Jackman have experienced the full effects of PTSD in their family after Scott was discharged from the Army with an injury the only life he knew. Scott was given a companion dog called Whiskey and its from this humble beginning that this organisation has become known throughout Australia for the support and dedication it has provided to combat this black fog. (www.whiskeyswish.org.au).
To date Whiskeys Wish have been able to train around 80 dogs and hope to be able to place another 20 companion puppies by the end of 2018. We’re trying to assist them with this goal by running a fundraiser Winter Sunshine Festival.
Car and motorbike entries are encouraged to register via trybooking.com to exhibit their ride. We have 5 trophies on the day for various awards of peoples choice/judges choice plus a number of small runner up prizes.
The variety market will be run in and outdoor around Town Square along with hot food trucks, face painting, live music and service displays (CFA).
The local scout group will be manning our First Aid tent and the Rotary Group will be running a fundraising sausage sizzle. One hundred percent of the funds raised will be donated to this fundraiser so our committee goal is to keep the costs to a bare minimum.
Our last meet before the Winter break. Lets make this a great one. Bring your classic, custom, muscle car, Aussie, US, Jap, British, Euro, rod, pick up, exotic, your family. Proceeds to Royal Children’s Hospital.
